The Southern Peninsula Basketball Association is absolutely thrilled to announce that we have developed a program that will be referred to as the “Future Sharks Program”.
This program has come about when discussing ways that we can further add to the development pathway and opportunities that we provide here at Southern Peninsula.
The essence of the program will be to introduce “double bottom age” under 12 players to playing representative Basketball, without adding too much stress or workload in the early years. Below is a summary of how the program will operate;
There will be fortnightly training sessions, as opposed to two weekly sessions which our VJBL teams have.
Numbers permitting, there will be at least one team in the boys and one team in the girls, however, we hope to fill more teams if possible.
The teams will compete in approximately four tournaments throughout the year, as opposed to the weekly Friday night games our VJBL teams have.
This program will act as a pathway into our VJBL (Victorian Junior Basketball League), a state league competition that competes on Friday nights. We envisage that the Future Sharks Program will greatly benefit the development and growth of those who participate through;
Building their skill sets
Increasing their knowledge of how to play Basketball
Adding experience in competing at a higher level
Introducing them to quality coaching on a regular basis
This program will lay the foundations for our Junior Representative program for years to come. We strongly believe that this is the very best way to set the individuals and the Association up for long term and sustainable success.
To be a part of this program, players will need to register and attend the upcoming u12 tryouts. You can do this through the below link;
